Webcam recording bitrates?

I'm using Camtasia 9 (with the latest patches as of Feb 23, 2017) on Windows 10.  I have a recently released Logitech Brio webcam.  I set the webcam format to 30fps, YUY2 compression, and 1280x720 Output size.  Unfortunately, the bitrate of the resulting video is relatively low, I know this because when I wave my hand in front of my face, I see quite a bit of macroblocking in the video that is output to Camtasia.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of knobs to turn when it comes to adjusting how webcam video is recorded in Camtasia.  I may end up opening a support ticket, but I wanted to check to see if anyone "out there" has experience with getting better video quality from a webcam when recording using Camtasia?

When using your webcam in Camtasia Studio and you try changing the settings for it in my opinion it is not up to par as it can take a lot or put more strain on the CPU from what I have been told. If I am trying to do a better video of myself using my webcam then I use the software that came with the webcam or another software over Camtasia Studio. I usually do not notice much different if I just use what I can with Camtasia when recording the webcam but I do not use that feature a lot.

I would consider contacting TechSmith Support and asking them and if possible can you post a video to show us what you are seeing ? Sorry for the issue you are having and hope this helps a little bit. Thanks for posting and let us know what you find out by posting your feedback here please. Have a great day/night.

Best Regards ~ Fred.
