I am having a problem with my Webcam lagging when I go to record I think it is because there is no way to set it to record higher than 5 FPS in the format settings I want to know why it is lagging as I have a gaming computer that has a Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card and 32 GB of ram installed on it. I know my computer can handle Camtasia because it works fin in other major editing programs that I have and my webcam does not lag there. I have a Logitech C920 webcam. I noticed it was just my webcam lagging after I went to go and edit my recording everything else does not lag at all my desktop recording does not lag just my webcam video when I go to play it in the timeline. Even when I preview my webcam before recording it lags and I don't know why. I am at a lose and don't know what to do. this video show that my webcam footage was lagging but everything else was fine.

Could be the ol c920 problem. Search the support forum for c920 and you should find the answer.

The ‘bottom line ‘ is for some hitherto unknown and unexplained reason Camtasia is not compatible with the c920 and the only solution offered is to use a different webcam or record in quicktime (on Mac) or other software application and then Import it in to Camtasia to edit !!

No explanation as to why when it works fine in Screenflow etc....but that seems to be the general answer offered.

You could use the Logitech Webcam's free software.
I like to set the White Balance manually. It get's the colors the right. If you need to adjust anything else,do that as well.
I let the webcam capture audio, it help to sync the webcams video, to the Camtasia recordings audio in the editor.

Start the webcam and let it fly.
Start the Camtasia recorder.
Let Camtasia capture your microphone. Clap your hands,  that creates a spike in the audio wave form and the webcam will pick up you clapping as well.
Minimize the Logitech recorder to the taskbar and forget about it.

When your done recording with Camtasia.
Stop and save the Logitech recording.
Bring the webcam footage into Camtasia and treat it like any webcam footage. You'll have to line up the video using that hand clap and/or audio wave forms or actual audio.
