Is it just me or did the Blur lose some functionality with 2018.0.5? The two screenshots show the parameters you can adjust and the 3rd screenshot shows that even at 100%, blur doesn't blur enough. I thought the previous versions had more parameters so you can adjust the blur more than this... any thoughts???

I've never thought the blur was fantastic in Camtasia, no matter which version. What I've done is a double blur, a blur on two tracks, grouped them, and put that into my Library. I use that Library group for the blur in my videos when needed.

Yep, that's why I do a double blur and group, and have it in my Library for easy access. With this example, I could almost see myself doing a quadruple blur, depending on if I wanted it completely blurred out. The blur effect out of the gate definitely should be improved. I'm in agreement with that.

I've never had to do double blurs or other workaround before. See my comment below.

Yes, I understand. It definitely is an issue in Camtasia.

I'm wondering if there is something going on between Camtasia and SnagIt. I have both and up until recently (installed SnagIt 2019), the blur worked perfectly for me. Maybe there is a DLL conflict.
You can see in the picture below (from a video I created earlier this year) that the blur is rather effective - I just slid the slider over in the Properties tab and got the level of blur I wanted.
For those of you that Camtasia blur doesn't work well, do you have SnagIt? If not, let us know. If you do, which version? If you haven't upgraded to SnagIt 2019, let us know if the blur behavior changes after you install the latest SnagIt version.

Thanks for doing the screencast. As you can see above, my blur used to be very effective and I remember this wasn't even turned up all the way.
I'm hoping someone from Techsmith will weigh in on this... Blur is one of those functions I and a lot of others use frequently and we shouldn't be using workarounds to get it to work correctly... especially since the product and the maintenance fee is pretty significant.

I have found that blur effect varies on what you are blurring in Camtasia (2018.0.5 at present)
OnĀ images blur is not so good unless you double up.
On text a single blur does the job.
If it is of any help another option that I have used often is to use Pixelate instead of blur.
Sometimes it even looks better.

Blur works great on text, it's ineffective on images.
Maybe that's what your remembering? How well it works on text.Because you can't read it.

I used the Blur Callout on an image I made on my CNC using Camtasia 2018 for PC. I set the Intensity to 100 percent and it blurred my image out with no problem. See the image below:

As you can see in this image I only used the Blur on the top of the Image. I also had the Canvas Un-docked for the Preview. I have personally never had the issue of the Blur not working on images for me. Never had to do a double blur or anything. Maybe it is luck but just showing my results and hope it helps someone.
