What happened to Jing? Snag it is a bloated mess. Can anybody recommend a screen shot app that is simple? I would pay $49.95 for Jing... not Snag it.

Hi,

So sorry to hear you're not happy with Snagit. When you say that it's bloated, are you referring to performance, size on disk, or just the number of options that it has making it more complex to use? If there are ways we can make Snagit easier to transition to for Jing customers, we would love to hear them!

Hi jonathan,
Please check out TechSmith Capture. It's free, and offers some great features that Jing never had such as webcam recording and capturing your computer audio. We're actively working on it to improve the experience and we'd love your feedback:

I've tried Capture. While it does have MANY features not available in Jing, the simplicity of Jing is what made it so handy. I will still play with Capture from time to time BUT for now prefer Jing.

I'm glad to hear you use capture sometimes, but I'd like to understand more what things are simpler about Jing--our hope is that Capture will be just as easy to use.

Just make Jing a paid for version, and make snagit premium.
1 Jing is small and compact so you can see other things in the interface.
2 it was faster than snagit, consumed less resources
3 it included only the stuff you needed (not 5 different arrow styles)
I'm just going to search around to find something like Jing. Snagit is to too featured for me.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, there are some things you can do in the current version of Snagit to simplify the interface.

1. In Snagit's general preferences, you can enable the one-click tab. this will give you a more jing-like simple floating capture button
1b. You can resize Snagit's editor to be smaller and it will remember that the next time you launch.
2. we're working on improving performance
3. You can pick the tools you want and star them to add them to the favorites tool. Then you can right click the toolbar to customize it and remove everything except for the favorites tool. This will clean up the interface.

Hi jonathan ,

Have you simply hit the Print Screen key on the keyboard, which captures the entire monitor screen? Load Paint and click Paste to paste the image captured into Paint. Then simply edit the capture and even make it smaller.

Paint is still available, even in the Insider Builds. Found it under Windows Accessories.
