What happened to preset callout box with double pointers?

I recently "upgraded" from Snagit 4.1.9 for Mac to the new integrated Snagit 2018. Not sure whether it was a good idea after being a devoted evangelist for Snagit for at least 15 years. The Quick Styles now only include callouts with one tail. As one of many hundreds, if not thousands, of genealogy people who use Snagit, I frequently need the two-tailed callout. How do I get another tail? There's nothing in the drop-down from Shapes. I saw a post from three years ago with someone complaining about always getting nine tails, but no comment on how they made more than one. (I never knew you could add tails.)

So, two questions:
1) is there any way to import my old presets from Snagit 4.1.9 into my new Snagit 2018, so I don't have to re-build my callouts library all over again? If not:
2) How do I add a tail to a callout?

I'm also having a huge latency problem now with v2018, but that will be another post.

I agree it should remain the the visible presets. You can still do a double arrow callout. Click once on one of the arrow callouts. Go down to the Shapes popup and make it  pop up. Choose a two ended arrow shape. Vwolah! When you click in the body of the screenshot, you have your double arrow callout. Unfortunately, this doesn't work for tails. (Reunion Bob at your service.)

Thanks, Bob, but we are talking different things because I guess I don't know what to call it: arrows, pointers or tails. I put "pointers" in my title because that's what they do, they point to something. A post three years ago called it "tails." That's what I want -- 4.1.9 had a pre-set (a Quick Style, as it were) of a callout balloon with two tails. Now I want one in v2018 and can't find it. I've never used a double-headed arrow, I need to point to specific things in an image capture, and they could be anywhere in a 360-degree radius from the callout. Sorry I wasn't more clear and thanks for wanting to help.

Hi Susan,

1. In Snagit 4, there is a gear icon next to the theme. If you click that and choose "Export Theme", then it will give you a file that includes all of your previous styles that you can then import into Snagit 2018.

2. When you have a callout on your canvas, you can click and drag this little blue circle to add a new tail. Once you've done this, you can save the new QuickStyle and it will then be created with 2 tails.

I hope this helps!

Thank you! I suppose this must be in some Help or documentation somewhere but I never found it. Tried it just now and it works. Someone else has replied with instructions on how to get my old styles from 4 into v2018, so I will try that as well. If I can solve the memory lag problems (have received a response on that, too) then I'll be good to go.

Luke: Do you have a solution for folks who no longer have version 4 on their Mac?

Yes! I think the easiest way (without having to mess around with the guts of the file system) would be to download 4.1.9 from our website and then follow step 1 from my post above. Hope this helps!

Please email me privately. Next question doesn't belong here and is not general interest. Thank you.

Hi,

We don't have anywhere to download old themes, but you can download version 4.1.10 from our download center.
The easiest way to get a multi-pointer preset though it to draw a callout, drag the blue circle to get a 2nd pointer, and then save the new style that appears. You can see more detail in my above post with the red callout.
