Snagit Editor's Preferences\General tab includes a check box, "Show me onboardiing".
1) What is "onboarding?"
2) Why is there no mention of "onboarding" in the Help\Snagit Editor\General Tab section?
3) Why is the term "onboarding" missing from the entire help system when I search for it?

Onboarding?

This is a series of screen prompts pop-ups. They are designed for first-time users of SnagIt who are unfamiliar with its functionality.

When you first install SnagIt on a computer. When you go to make your first screen capture you are greeted with a pop up with some brief instructions on how to go about it. Like this one below.

Screen prompts such as the one above should only appear once.

In essence, this is a form of training to aid those unfamiliar with the program. When you use a feature for the first time in the editor. If there are special instructions available. You will see an expanding ring animation displayed around at the information icon.it's the blue ring you see in the image below.

I can’t explain why they don’t have any reference to this in the SnagIt help menus or TechSmith’s support website?I contacted tech support to get a definitive answer. The technician couldn't find or provide an explanation as to why there was no references to this feature.

So I guess now we both know{:<)

Regards, Joe.

In addition to what Joe pointed out, Onboarding also refers to this document that is opened and displayed in the editor when SnagIt first opens.

The items in brighter shades are live elements that are intended to display the properties of each tool when clicked.

Cheers... Rick :)
