Hi All,

We are producing a number of videos in Camtasia with Closed Captions and markers/chapters. What is the best way of embedding the video with the Techsmith player into Moodle.

We have decided not to use SCORM and Quizzes as there is not simple way to build up a bank of question (aka the Moodle Question Bank), with then allow for reuses and assessment.

Still, there are interactively link on the content that will move to the markers and all of this requires the Techsmith player.

Cheers

If your Moodle resides on a web server somewhere within your domain, set up another directory on the web server outside of the Moodle area and load the Techsmith player files into that directory/subdirectory structure. Then build links to the launch files and make those available to users.

The bad news is if you don't have a convenient upload facility on your domain web server (FTP or front end of some sort) you many need to get IT or a developer to do this, depending on your web structure.

The good news is, once the infrastructure and process to upload and maintain those files is in place and working well, you can link to those player files from any where, including from within other courses in Moodle or anywhere, just by using the URL link to the launch file.

Good luck!

Hi Dave,

This is a good start. We have our own Moodle pre-production system, but a hosted production system , although these guys are pretty open to allow us to do things I think.

In both case, Moodle sits on Apache. Now, whilst I don't mind fideling, I am no web admin, so if you could provide some additional guidance here, this could be awesome.

FWIW, I found an old post on the Moodle forums (https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=282767) that pointed to a TechSmith blogs, unfortunately, that link is now dead, but it did seem like it was exactly what was required.

If anyone has any further information, it would be gratefully received.
