What is the process to deploy a SCORM package created in Camtasia 2019 to an LMS?

We used to used Camtasia 2018, 9 and 8 to create videos that can be tracked for completion in our LMS.  However, now that we've moved to Camtasia 2019 I notice the structure of the SCORM package is different and our deployment team is reporting errors when they try to upload to the SCORM package to the LMS.  Has anyone had any issues deploying Camtasia 2019 videos to an LMS?

Hello,

Can you be more specific with the errors you are seeing?  I did just some quick checks with Camtasia 2019 (Windows and MacOS) using SCORM Cloud and it seems to work.

What LMS are you using?

Thanks,
Ben

Dear Ben,
Thank you for your quick revert. The Client is using Success Factors.

Hi Shekhar,

I do not have access to Success Factors to test directly.  Could you get a help your client grab screen recording of them uploading a SCORM package to this LMS so I can see what they are running into?

Thanks,
Ben

Thank you for posting the error message.  What version of SCORM did you produce with (1.2 or 2004)?

Try this:

  • Right click on imsmanifest.xml and open with Notepad or some other editor
  • Add this code right underneath our metametadata code:

<metadata>
<schema>ADL SCORM</schema>
<schemaversion>1.2</schemaversion>
</metadata>

Just got more information. We are aren't actually getting an error message - everything appears to upload successfully to the LMS (which is Cornerstone).  However, once we attempt to launch the course in Chrome we get a blank screen.

If possible could you open the Chrome dev tools and navigate to the console tab.  Then see if there is any information listed?  Also what version of SCORM api are you targeting (1.2 or 2004)?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben - unfortunately I'm not the one deploying (it's a separate team who is relaying the info to me) so I can't see the console tab.  We are using SCORM 1.2.    We've got a support ticket open as well.   We're going to try just uploading the SCORM zip to the LMS and see if that resolves the issue...will see what happens.

Totally understand, if you can provide anymore info let me know.  We did resolve some SCORM issues with Cornerstone LMS and the Smart Player in the last 2 months.  Camtasia 2019 should have those fixes. I'm curious if there could be some more bugs to iron out.

Hi Ben,  So it seems our usual process is to just upload the ZIP file., so we aren't doing anything different.   Hoping someone can figure out what is going wrong....

I'm facing a similar issue with Camtasia 2019. I've created a learning programme that ends with a quiz. It uses SCORM 1.2. The client is unable to upload the zip file into the system.  Not sure of how this is to be handled. Will appreciate urgent help.  I have created the video and quiz on Camtasia 2019 for Mac.

@shekhar.manelkar,

What LMS are is being used to upload the SCORM package to?  Can you provide more details on what "The client is unable to upload the zip file into the system" means (specific errors)?

Hi Ben,
I'm facing the same issue. We just got the 2019 Camtasia version and I'm a new user. I created my output in Scorm Format. However, when I try to upload the Zip folder to my LMS, I get the following message  " Only Scorm 1.2 version is supported".
How can I work around this? I am using TalentLMS as my LMS.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Smriti B

Are you running the latest version of Camtasia 2019 which are 2019.0.7 on Windows and 2019.0.5 on MacOS? Once you have confirmed that, you are producing SCORM content with version 1.2 then?
After all that you are still getting that error?
" Only Scorm 1.2 version is supported"
thanks,
Ben

Ben,
I'm using 2019.0.7 on Windows. How do I produce SCORM 1.2 using Camtasia?

You can watch this video showing the steps to get to the SCORM menu in Camtasia.

In the version dropdown options, you will have the option to pick 1.2.
