I have had very good success with using PNG files that have transparency - these files work well in Camasia.

I can create custom callout shapes, using corporate-branded colors, with odd shapes because of the transparency support.

Fades are the only effect that can be applied to objects, but really the bread & butter of the professionally-looking effects anyway.

I have recently had reallly good results using Powerpoint 2010, as the transition and animation effects (motion paths, smooth fly-in, bounce by whole object/word/letter, etc.) are close to the elgance you can achieve with Keynote or SlideRocket.

Many of the things i develop go in the library so others can reuse without having to do it from scratch all the time.

Hello,
I wanted to update this thread with some new information. We just released Camtasia Studio 8, and it includes a bunch of new features that everyone will find particularly useful in making title slides.
It also comes with our new media library that has quite a few new premade title slides.

Importing pngs still works great for your own custom images with transparent backgrounds, but now we have a new feature called visual properties. It allows for you to add your own custom defined animations – movement, rotation, opacity, scale, etc. – to any media clip. It’s no longer necessary to make the effects in PowerPoint and import them in! Transitions can now be applied to any object and not just videos.

There is also a ton of other new stuff in Camtasia Studio 8 that you can learn more about here, as well as download a free, fully-functional 30 day trial: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-wha...

Thank you again for your feedback!

Hi, we recently upgraded to Camtasia 8 and personally we are having a difficult time "adjusting and developing expertise" on elimination of "title clips" and now where everything is a "callout".

I am sure from some brief searching that we are NOT alone ... are there any current detailed "Creating and tips and tricks for Titles" tutorials for Camtasia Studio 8.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,
There has been quite a lot of discussion about missing title clips, most of it seems like it's going on at this thread: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

The best resource I know of for Camtasia Studio 8 is a video made by another developer. http://www.screencast.com/t/MXeLbVjqt It shows you the pre-made title slides and how they can be used quicker than creating one from the callouts tab.

Thank you Sara ... serves as a work around. But FAR too many steps ...
