Hi Tom,

You can find a comparison of Jing and Snagit here on this page:

There is also a tutorial which covers moving from Jing to Snagit.

I hope these pages help. If you need further information please feel free to ask.

Second support response I've found providing that link. Where on that page? The only suggestion of difference is "record longer video".

Looks like dozens of variations on this question of Jing vs Snagit. Maybe that suggests a need to do a side-by-side feature comparison and publish it. As a new customer, it would be really helpful!

I agree and in general I find a lot of redundancy in Techsmith products. I love Snagit, could not figure out for the life of me why I would need jing, Camtasia seems like Snagit but a little better, Relay is Snagit for teams....

I am wondering why techsmith does not consolidate their products to offer a clearer view of what you can get and what you need. I see a lot of online content where people are trying to understand the difference between all the products.

I am trying to figure out which product best meets my needs without feeling like I am compiling research. Frankly, I'd rather pay a lot more for a bigger brand that communicates capability and features clearly than to spend this much time comparing products. This thread also makes me question support for this product as the question hasn't been answered in 4 years. Is it the culture of the company to be too lazy, too uninformed, or just unwilling to type a list of a few key words and phrases? If so, what are the software performance and upgrades going to look like.

In our office, Jing updates are a nightmare.   Jing stops working until you update it.  They don't give us Admin rights on our computer so we have to wait months for the IT dept to get to our computer and do the update.   When it works, it's great.  But, a lot of complications.
