Could you be a bit more specific please?  Describe what you are doing?  Because there are several things this might be...

I captured an image with Snagit. I needed to copy one part of the image and paste it to another area in the same image. The quality of the portion when pasted is reduced.

I had a very similar issue and after long discussions via email it was finally fixed, but I'm damned if I can remember what the fix was now, hang on.......

.... OK, do you have the option "Always Shrink to fit" turned OFF.  If so try turning it on.

As I recall, I had to involve support eventually, so if that fix doesn't work, you need to open a ticket

Thanks Paul. I'll find the option "Always Shrink to Fit" first.

Got it! Thank you. It's one of those things you always see but not sure where you saw it.

When you save the degraded image out to PNG does the saved version carry the degradation? (Please do this on a test file)

Interesting. It's slightly pixelated but no where near what I was seeing on the original paste.

It's been my experience that the SnagIt editor is terrible at scaling images.

If you want a clear copy and pasted image. Change the scaling to 100%.
Then, both the original image, and the copy and pasted one. Should be sharp and clear.
