Animated GIFs are de rigueur on some social sites. Check out Giphy  https://giphy.com/explore/animated-gif. But don't get lost in there.

animGIFs a re extremely useful; no embedded player needed, lightweight hosting and works nearly everywhere. I use it all the time to give some hints&tricks.
But I ́m not sure what OP means with "best quality" as one of GIF ́s nature is a reduced colour palette for instance.

Snagit does have a lot more options when exporting gifs so you can choose the level of quality that you need. That said, we offer a free trial for both Snagit and Camtasia, so I would recommend comparing the two and seeing which one best fits your needs.
