Is the the option to turn "anti-alias" on/off (for a text object) available in SnagIt 13, as it was in previous versions?  If so, where is it hiding?

Hi there

I just looked at my version 12 and I don't see this option. Perhaps it performed a disappearing act before version 12.4.1?

Where did you formerly find this setting?

Cheers... Rick :)

In Release 11, when working with the Text drawing tool, it was in the Styles ribbon, under the Effects dropdown list.  That dropdown list showed 5 options: Shadow, Create as Vector, Antialias, Opacity, and Padding.

Rick, it looks like you had previously spotted it in 11 here:
https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/turning_off_anti_aliasing_on_text_in_callout

I fear that you may be correct about the disappearing act.  When I save a copy of my image with the Antialias turned OFF for a particular piece of text, if remains Antialiased when I reopen the .snag file in Snagit 11, but it is automatically displayed in regular shaded mode when I open it in Snagit 13.  I'm beginning to agree that it was omitted from the latest versions of the product.  Glad I kept my old version installed.

LOL, indeed it was! Nice catch

So many versions. So little space to remember the niggly details. ;)

Yeah, I've poked at SnagIt 13 and I'm not seeing any corresponding feature. My guess is that it was dropped. Only TechSmith knows why.

Cheers... Rick :)

I second Mark's request for the return of this feature.  It's very valuable when creating small images (icons) to be able to turn on/off anti-aliasing for text.  It can mean the difference between readable and unreadable text.

Darn, I hoped they would put this back in for 2018 but I can't find it. I'm sorry I upgraded now.

Snagit is one of our favorite tools for creating and editing images in our work methods and other technical publications.  Being able to turn on/off anti-aliasing is a critically important feature in the version we currently use.   I'll have to advise our IT department not to upgrade our current installations (numbering many hundreds of seats) if this feature is not present.

Does anyone from TechSmith read these posts? It would be nice to have either an explanation or an "Oops, we messed up there. We'll fix that." from a actual TechSmith rep.
Just to be clear: We want the ability to turn anti-alias ON or OFF in the next version of Snag-It!  (Considering all the time we've all wasted looking for the absent control, it would also be a nice gesture we got the next upgrade for free.)

Not sure if the issue I had was the same as others here - but it turns out that SnagIt was applying an outline to my text by default. I just had to reduce the "Line Width" to 0 and it fixed it for me. Hope that helps.
