Where is the video duration

Just upgraded from Mac 2 to 3.  In 2, the video duration was listed at the bottom of the window and was useful when editing.  However, I do not see it in 3 and can not find it anywhere.  Has this been removed?  Is it a bug?  Or overlooked?  How do I add it to 3?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi there

I'm honestly not trying to antagonize you with my question here. Note, I'm a user same as you. I've seen other posts asking about the video duration. I know that if I position my playhead at the end of the video, Camtasia tells me what the timecode is. But that's for a PC. I'm unsure if it exists for the Mac version.

My question is to ask how this is important to you? I've been using Camtasia and other video editors for a long while, but can't honestly say that I've ever really found that whole duration to be very helpful. At least, not for the things I've ever done. So for someone like me, until I saw these posts about it I'd never have noticed it missing.

Can you provide an example of how it aids in your workflow? If I can understand that, perhaps it will help me make better videos.

Cheers... Rick :)

Some of the videos I make are required to be under a given length. So, it's helpful to know what the length is as I'm editing when I can't see the end of the timeline. If I have to scroll to the end to see how long it is (and how much more I might need to cut) then I often have trouble finding the exact spot I was in to continue. Even if I note the timecode, sometimes I either forget or get sidelined and can't remember what it was. That's just one use. I've relied on it for a lot of things. It really is more convenient than scrolling to the end to read the timecode.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Video length below timeline is gone.

I keep trying to reference the video length at the bottom of the screen, under the timeline, that was there in Camtasia Mac 2. Please put this back in the screen, as it's so useful during editing, especially for videos that have a time-length maximum.

I know someone entered this request before but I can't find it, so I'll just start another idea thread. Please merge this if you can, to combine the votes.

I originally posted this as an idea, so I hoped that by merging it with a question, it will still be available as an idea post, and considered for the next update.

I just reposted this as an idea. If you would like to see this feature added back, please search for "Add video duration back to Cam 3" and vote for it.

I agree, it's inconvenient to have to jump to the end of the timeline just to see the duration. I have to document the length of my videos for my syllabus so having it there at a glance was super easy. Now it's a PITA to get what used to always be visible. Put it back, please!
