Which product(s) should I purchase?

For my work, I will be creating database tutorials and guides. There is sensitive information in the database that I would want to blur out in screencasts. Does SnagIt allow you to blur out parts of a video or do I need to get Camtasia for that? Can Camtasia video files be embedded in an online LMS like Talent LMS? Lastly, are the prices shown for the products a one-time price or is it an annual thing?

I believe blur can only be achieved using Camtasia. The "editing" in SnagIt only consists of slicing out parts you don't want in the video.

Hello there alison3189,
I'll try to address all of your questions.

1. Blur cannot be applied to a video while editing in SnagIt.

2. If you are looking to embed videos on your website.
The only thing one "Should" be required to know is. Does Camtasia produce videos that are compatible with your website.
For starters, you need to know what your website supports. When producing to mp4 Camtasia has the ability set the "Embed Size" of the video. To the best of my knowledge, mp4 works in pretty much any website these days but I'm not qualified to say that with any certainty.
That being said, Tech support is better equipped to answer your LMS questions than I.

3. If you intend on adding questionnaires to your videos you need to produce to mp4 using the smart player. I don't know it there's a technique for hosting using the smart player on an LMS or not.

4. TechSmith has there own website called http://www.screencast.com/ for hosting regular videos, videos with quizzes "Smart Player", etc. You could share links to the videos on your website.

You can open a free account for hosting a small number of videos. There's a limitation as to how many views per month, "Don't ask me how many/ IDK" . Plus, there's no technical support.

So it's not necessarily ideal for a company to pursue. Unproductive man hours = Hours Lost.
If you fight with your LMS for a few hours occasionally trying to save, there's a fair chance your actually losing money and productivity in the long run.

If you open a paid account you get free tech support. From my understanding there are different plans to suit your needs. You would need to look into it.

4. The purchase of the Programs is a one time purchase and you will own them for lifeThe license never expires.

Regards,Joe
