Why can't I import .mkv files?

I have a Intro and my Intro is a .mkv file

Hi there

If Camtasia doesn't understand it, you will likely need to transcode it to a different file type such as MP4. Either that, or play it and record it using Camtasia. As it's just an intro, it's likely got a pretty short duration so it shouldn't be too onerous.

Has this been fixed in in 2018 Version?
This will keep me from purchasing.

Native MKV / MPG / MPEG4 file support ( import / export) is just expected these days for youtube / streaming ...

So mr.dk.vv,

MKV is not supported yet. Some supported formats, are not fully supported. Mov's with transparency created with the QuickTime format are not.
In general, overall. I believe most formats listed in the drop down menu of windows. Work well. I'm basing this on a lack of complaints in this forum. There was a lot of them when Camtasia first accepting a wider range of content.
Here's a screen shot of current formats accepted in the drop down window when you try to import through Camtasia 2018, along with a larger easier to read Text version above.
