Why can't I Select/Delete/Autofill a section now AFTER first using Select/Slice?

I give a lot of presentations, and so that I can fit the screenshots on Powerpoint, I do a lot of slicing sections out of the middle (either horizontally or vertically) to tighten it up, and I also use the dashed-line-box Select tool to select parts that would be visually distracting and then hit the Delete key to just make them go away (with Auto-fill on, so the background just fills in).

After upgrading to 2019, I had some problems with the Select/Delete/Autofill function. Called Tech Support and she showed me how this is supposed to always work on captures made with Snagit, but won't always work with images imported from my hard drive. Okay, I accept that.

But now I've just discovered that even if I'm working on a Snagit capture, if I Select/Slice first, then the other Select/Delete/Autofill tool does not work at all. I can only do the latter function if I remember to do it first, and THEN do my slicing after that. This is completely opposite to my standard workflow, which for years has been tighten/reduce first, then find distracting visual elements and get rid of them.

I am 99% certain this was not a problem with my Snagit for Mac prior to 2019. Unfortunately, I have trashed my Snagit 2018 application so can't confirm. But am interested to know if others have this problem and if I'm correct that it's new. I consider this a serious problem for my use of this product.

Hi,

So sorry about this! This is a known bug in 2019 that we hope to have fixed soon. For now, you can download Snagit 2018 from here https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions. Licenses are backwards compatible so you should have no problems running it.

Thank you, Luke. I will definitely install 2018 to get back the previous functionality for when I need that.

I am one who decided a long time ago to not allow automatic updates to any program and to wait to upload a new version that I have to depend on for just this reason.  I have had too many unexpected issues happen after program updates that create issues that can reduce my ability to perform the work I need to get done.  I have made the update to 2019 Snagit on only one of my computers for this reason.
