Why did I bother purchasing version 13?

Well I feel like I wasted my money. I have ver 10 and all the Glassy call outs and now I have ver 10 with call outs that make my presentations look like they were done by  5th grader.

This is a very bad upgrade. I wasted my money. I will look very hard before I consider any of your other products. I have been using PC's for 30 years and I can not remember a more disappointing upgrade.

Joe - I have to agree. It's like they fired all of the programmers that had created an elegant product and hired children to re-write it. That's a little harsh, I'm sure that there is plenty of sophisticated programming running things in the background, but the interface and the graphics have taken a disappointing step backwards. They need to hire a UX specialist and a graphic artist. In the mean time, stick with version 10.

It is probably more of a management issue than a programmer issued. Starting with v12 I had the same feeling. Someone )who probably does not use snagit in a production setting) started deciding what would be "better" and broke an excellent program in the process. Many great features were broken and support claims that some were done on purpose and it is working as designed
In fairness they have added some neat features but the entire workflow has been disrupted with extra clicks and features thereby being made cumbersome

What really bothers me is that this issue has appeared on these forums for a couple of years and not only has it not been fixed. I did not see one acknowledgement of the issue, or explanation as to why it is gone.  If they want me to buy it then show me a link where I can but it. for now I have ver 10 and ver 13 on my pc and I doubt I will use ver 13 ever again. What a waste.

Really poor product management. I will not recommend any product from this company to my clients based on how they handled this issue

Hi Joe,

If you like the old stamps, you can install them into the new version.  Here's a support article which explains how to do it:
https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/220456508-Snagit-Windows-Installing-old-stamps

If you find that you're still unhappy with the upgrade, you can request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date using this form: https://www.techsmith.com/about/return.asp

Keep in mind that when we release major upgrades you always have the option of using the free trial before you decide to purchase. And even if it doesn't seem like something you want, keep checking back because we're continually adding new features in the minor releases.

I hope this helps!

You can get some here
http://www.snagitstamps.com/
And look at the ad for Superstamps. That is a massive collection

The ability to find and use them has degraded in Snagit so  I just open a window and drag out from there and that works fine

Max, I'm curious. Glen pointed you to a link that allows you to install the older Stamps. Now I do understand that Stamps and Callouts are two completely different things. But I'm curious if you tried the link that was provided. And if so, did it contain what you were looking for?

Thanks... Rick :)

Rick - I clicked the link and was taken to a site with beautiful and artistic stamps, callouts and other kinds of graphics. I have not tried them as yet, but I'm looking forward to trying them.

I am glad they do that - let you get them all at once. They are making them in PDF files these days. Is their any reason for that that you may know of?
Thanks

Hi Joe (and others)
I am very sorry we have taken away a feature you have come to rely on and haven't provided a way to get those glassy style callouts into the new Snagit!

I am currently looking to see if there is a way to make this happen sort of under the hood.
In the meantime, I am also seeing if I can make a SNAG file that has those callouts in it in V10 and bring those callouts over into into V13. This will  take me a bit of time to test, but I will come back here and post my results and/or a SNAG file that has the callouts so you can import them into your current version of Snagit. (You might have to save those in the SNAG file and copy them into any new images you create. This is just a test... I don't know for sure if this will work!)

As an Information Developer, I completely understand how frustrating it can be to have styles change without any legacy support. All of a sudden the callout or stamp you have in all your images has changed and it's a total hassle to try and figure out how to continue on. Stamps are easy to import - callouts, NOT so easy.

While there is nothing I can do about getting the glassy style back into Snagit, I can offer the help I mentioned above. Additionally, if you are interested, we often run small private beta groups that let customers such as yourself look at the next versions of our software. In this group, you are able to give your feedback on how new or changing features impact your current workflow, processes, and legacy files.

I don't know when the next group for Snagit will begin, but, if you would be interested, just email me at k.mullins@techsmith.com and I will put your name on the list.

And, thanks for giving us your feedback here in this forum. Your comments are a good reminder to us that changes we make in our software have a direct impact on our current customers. What seems like a simple change on our end can cause serious disruptions in productivity and workflow on your end.

Hello,

Here is a support article that shows how to import you previous callouts into V13.
https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit-13-transfer-styles.html

Please give this a go and see if the glassy format comes over.
