Why do even I need Fuse if it's just for sending files* to my computer? Isn't that what any USB cable does?

Hello, I am kind of dissapointed because I just watched the "Connect mobile device" tutorial (I'm Camtasia user) and I thought this app was for screen recording my mobile display, not just for syncing both devices to share files. Maybe I got it wrong?

PS: I'm posting this without actually installing Fuse.

Hello,
Fuse allows you to use your mobile device's camera or video recorder to create media to use in Camtasia or Snagit.
Then use Fuse to send that media directly into the Camtasia Media bin or the Snagit Editor.

You can find out more here:
https://www.techsmith.com/fuse.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw2qzHBRChloWxgoXDpyASJAB01Io0Px-HziL_i9z86oS74wRTVG...

Overall, Fuse is a "bridge" that allows you to create content on your mobile device and get it into Camtasia and Snagit without the need for a USB cable.

I hope this helps.

If you're looking to record your iOS device, this capability is built into the Mac version of Camtasia, but does have a few technical requirements. In that case, this tutorial might be more what you're looking for: https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia-9-3-recording-your-ios-device.html

I should have put this link in my other post, but if you're on Camtasia (Mac) version 2, this is the video walkthrough you'll need: https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia-mac-recording-your-ios8-device.html

The other link was for the current version (3.0).

Actually I need to record from an Android device. My Camtasia version is 2.10.4, so... is there support for Android?

Recording the Android device with Camtasia directly would not be possible. However, there are several Android apps that allow for screen recording. Unfortunately, I haven't tried any of them so I can't give recommendations.

Assuming the recordings from those apps are saved in a standard video format, it would be possible to edit those videos with Camtasia. TechSmith Fuse may be helpful there, for easily sending the videos from your device Gallery to your Media Bin in Camtasia.

Ok, thank you very much for your replies, both you and Kelly.

But actually, Techsmith is really, really, behind on this. There are other posts from almost 3 years ago of people asking how to screenrecord from their mobile devices and it's amazing how Camtasia is not part of this yet.

As for Fuse... meh... I don't see any advantages whatsoever. I've been a video editor for more than 10 years and importing footage has never been an issue for me.

I hope Techsmith implements this someday.
