Why so many steps to get a link to Share? One-Click would seem to be enough, no?

Eliminate the extra steps required to get a url link in order to share an image... like jumping through hoops each time I do it... how about a single button GET LINK that then creates a link AND copies to your Clipboard?

Where are you sharing to?

What version of Snagit are you using?

In the latest version of Snagit 2019.1.3 if I share to Dropbox or Google Drive the link is automatically added to my clipboard.

I can't say for Facebook because I don't share to Facebook.

I'm wondering if this has been incorrectly flagged and was intended to be flagged for ScreenCast.com

Good question.

Could very well be.

Unless the OP comes back to continue the conversation (which so many never do in this forum) we'll never know.   ^_^

I'm using the 'share/screencast' option to generate a link I can post anywhere to share the image I wish to... So now I click Share... then screencast... then it generates a screencast link... then click to copy to clipboard. I designed my own chat program and have added in many features, always looking for the least # of clicks  https://www.screencast.com/t/PaRqbb6kj

In the latest version of Snagit you should be able to just get the link by clicking the down arrow next to the Screencast share button and click 'Put URL in the clipboard.

I haven't ever tried it as I usually don't share images to Screencast but may be what you need.

Yep, just tried it. Three clicks!

I note that SnagIt did prompt me with a popup once it was finished, but the URL was there without clicking the link in the popup. The popup just disappeared after it briefly displayed.

It does the same for Dropbox and Google Drive.

You get the popup notification but you don't need to click the "Get Link"
It is automatically put in the clipboard.

At least for me thats what happens.

@Rick.

Do you get a link for the URL if you just click the Screencast button only?

I clicked nothing, and the only thing on my clipboard was my image.

So you have to be on your toes and grab the pop-up before it disappears.

I never used took advantage of this feature. I don't much care for the pounce quickly workflow. That notice is  only there for a couple of seconds or so.

When I clicked it, "Get Link" That's all I had on the clipboard.

@Dubie - Interesting. Indeed it seems to do that!

I already had a link in my clipboard, so I cleared it by copying a couple of letters from Notepad. I then clicked the Share > ScreenCast button alone and sure enough, the link was on my clipboard when I pasted.

@Joe,

Wonder what the difference might be.

For Rick according to his posts and myself, we get the URL link in the clipboard.
I don't have to click the notification button.

Do you use the clipboard history option in Windows 10 and that could possibly be the difference? Don't know why it should matter. Just a guess.
I have it turned off.

I  use a clipboard manager (Clipdiary) but that doesn't decide what gets copied.
It just manages and keeps history of the clipboard.

@ Rick,

Cool.  Thanks for checking that out.

You guys all have the process correct... and I know I'm being picky but... my suggestion was to have a single button click... I realize the GUI is designed to incorporate multiple potential options for how to share and that's a good thing, however I don't use any of the other methods besides screencast and yes it's only 3 clicks but it would be rather simple matter to save a preference method so that it was a single click... just need Snagit programmers to write the code. I do this all of the time for my Chat program to make usability one-click wherever possible... thanks for all of the comments and feedback

Are you modifying the images in any way once captured?

If you aren't and all you are doing is capturing and sharing, I'm wondering if you could create a preset with a share destination. If you used that preset to capture, it would then share and plop the URL on your clipboard.

Unfortunately my SnagIt just decided to update and it seems to be taking a long time. So I'm not 100% sure of this without testing.

Cheers... Rick :)

Okay, just tested it. There is a "Finish" button that you have to click, but that's it. And the bonus is that if you ARE going to annotate things, it  seems to allow this to happen. So you might want to investigate setting that up!

I just went ahead and setup a preset to Screencast that doesn't open the editor
and it put the URL in my clipboard.

You set it up to do that in the Screencast options.

This is what I got when I setup the preset and signed in.

Using that preset with One-click, It is one click and done.
Image posted and link in the clipboard.

Just to add:

As Rick posted above if you do have the capture preset configured to open the editor then it is two clicks.

1. Click the preset to make the capture.

2. Click the Green Finish Button in the editor to send it off.

Link should be in the clipboard.
