Why isn’t my software key working?

I just downloaded the software but it says my key is not valid.
I just purchased a software key but it will not work.
I enter my software key but the activate button is still grey.

Here are a few suggestions to help you with entering your software key:

-Make sure your key is for the correct software program (Camtasia Studio keys will not accept Snagit keys and vice versa).

-Make sure you are running the version of the software that you purchased or the key may not work. You can check what version you are running by going to Help > About. A little box will pop up and tell you what version of the software you have downloaded.

-Make sure there are no empty spaces at the beginning or end of the key.

-Copy and paste the key rather than hand entering it. Use your keyboard shortcuts, Ctrl + C to copy and Ctrl + V for paste.

-Be sure to copy and paste the entire key, if there is one character missing it won't work.

-If you are using Snagit on Mac be sure to type all the characters in upper case as the software will not recognize lower case characters.

What is the exact error that you are receiving? Did you purchase Camtasia Studio through our store? If so do you have an Order Number you can share with me so I might look it up? the program will not accept all the characters in my key, my key is too long! Why do you make it so hard to do this?

I'm sorry you are having trouble. It should be a very simple copy/paste operation.
What program did you just purchase?
Did you receive the email with the key in it?

When you say you got it in a gift can you explain more ? Did someone purchase the software for you and provide the download link to the Camtasia Studio 8 Software ? If so when they gifted it to you and did that they should have received the Key to license the software with whatever email they provided upon the purchase. You may have to check with them. If it was a boxed set then you should have the Key on the box somewhere. Let us know and thanks for posting and looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a great day/night.

One other thing: If you got the key from the person and you know the email used you can do the Lost Software Key Lookup from the link Mike Curtis provided above to double check there is not an error in the Key Number. Just another suggestion for you.
