why won't wav files play in Camtasia Studio 7.0?

I'm trying to sync audio with a video I recorded. I can import an mp3 file just fine, but the audio quality sounds horrible.

When I import a wav file, it appears to add the file, but if I try to preview the file or drop it on to the timeline, there seems to be no audio. I can play the audio in Windows Media Player, so it is not an empty file.

If you're exporting to WAV from another application, the best format to use is PCM, 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, Stereo. This is the most compatible audio format with the CS timeline.

This is the winner! Thank you. I use Audition CC2015, had the same problem. Changed to above setting and BANG!
