Hello Mike62!

Thanks for your interest in trying SnagIt 12! SnagIt 12.4 does run on a virtual machines. The majority of our testing with SnagIt 12 is handled with basic hardware virtualization with the back end VM hosts running VMware ESXi.

I would like to learn a little more about the system you are installing SnagIt. What version (and edition) of Windows are you using to install Snagit? Are you installing Snagit using the .EXE as a single installation or are you testing Snagit to work with a deployment system using an MSI/MST?

Thanks for the feedback. Frankly I am still using to v11.3. Same as many old time users.

However, sometimes this version does not respond as I am used to under Windows 7, e.g. when capturing settings panes of windows. I reported that earlier. Maybe, similar to v12 the global hotkey is not remembered, I don't know. I have to use FastStone to continue capturing.

Currently I am using Windows 10 x64.

After its release I tried v12 but due to its limits on multiple profiles using the same global hotkey, I went back to 11. regretfully so. Like many 'old time' users I prefer to keep SnagIt uptodate, with the latest version, but specifically this inability of 1 global hotkey linked to I-don't-know-how-many-profiles, well, as said, that 'pushed' me back to v11.

Anyway, I just wanted to shortly check what has been changed in the latest version and see if that would be workable.

My system : Windows 10 x64, vmware workstation v11.

thanks

Just to advise that I have attempted to install SnagIt v12.4.1 (.exe) some 4-5 times on VMware Workstation v12.1. The installer, after running just for a couple of seconds (maybe 5 or 10 at most) reports that it is installed, but in fact nothing is installed.
No program folder has been created, there is no program group (under start) nor anything in the taskbar, nor does SnagIt launch itself.
Probably it won't run in a virtual environment.

Then again, the October update says
"..As if Snagit 12.2.2, Snagit can now be deployed into some virtual environment."

Later: after rebooting my pc, SnagIt was installed. However, immediately after installed it asked to make a capture. Then one has to click on the Sign In button. SnagIt claims there was no internet connection, whereas on the other hand I could browse to the Techsmith website, without problems problems.
