I want to purchase Snagit but would hate to buy now if 2020 is soon to be released.

TechSmith doesn't release information stating if a new version is going to be released, when it will be released or any details I am aware of.

You could look at past patterns and take a guess as to what might be in the works.

In June of 2016 they released SnagIt 13.
In October 2017 they released SnagIt 2018.
In October of 2018 they released SnagIt 2019.

This may or may not indicate what will happen down the road?

Lacking an official announcement from TechSmith.  Theres no telling what will actually occur, or when.

I think but am not sure that if, under their current licensing format, you purchase the current version now, you will be entitled to the next version upon release. That may only apply to 'Maintenance Agreements,' which I have.

Maintenance agreements entitle you to 1 year of free upgrades to a major release. Which would encompass a SnagIt 2020 in all likelihood.
The maintenance agreement cost $12.49..........
50% less than a standard upgrade price of $24.95......
You get priority support with the maintenance agreement. You're not actually  saving  much money purchasing maintenance.Relatively speaking........In my opinion.

I wonder if Brooks has managed to talk management in to considering extending the rollout while they sort out long standing issues that have never been correctly resolved?  Seeing update rollouts is not something I have noticed before.  It encouraged me to hang around longer.
Of course I may just be idealistic and off with the fairies :)

Don't know how to purchase the maintenance agreement as it always comes up US dollars and usually is no were as cheap as you have mentioned.  I may have the wrong link of course.

Cheers.

Are you saying that 50% less is not value if there is an update every year as we have seen recently? As well as the other benefits outlined above.

It's of value if you desire updating every year. The poster didn't say which version they were running.
Or whether their interested in updating every year.

A lot of people quit updating several years ago.

That why I used the term Relatively speaking........In my opinion.

I even posted an image of what maintenance included.

I'm not sure I could have been much more informative than that. }:>)

Sorry Joe but I did make a reference to your image with 'As well as the other benefits outlined above.' I have a 'Maintenance Agreement' for those benefits.
