Window disappears when I hit record!

Hi there,

I'm trying to record the keyboard window *only* in Garageband, for a music tutorial. If I select Garageband and then press Command-Shift-2 the window disappears so I can't select it! Of course, I can record a custom region that's roughly the same shape as the keyboard, and then make the keyboard reappear once I've started recording by clicking on Garageband again, but this is a messy solution! Note: I'm using the latest version of Camtasia Studio for Mac.

Many thanks in advance for your help!
Benedict

Unfortunately Garageband hides that window the moment it becomes inactive.   The only work around I can think of is to crop your recording to just show the keyboard window.  The Crop to Foreground Window menu option on the canvas will do the trick.  You will probably want to adjust the canvas size as well, so as not to have any black bars.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I didn't know of the Crop to Foreground Window functionality so that's a huge help - certainly much neater than cropping the recording manually. The crazy thing is that I actually managed to hit record without the keyboard window disappearing once, so that I was able to select it, but I haven't managed to be able to replicate the result since! I guess it'll remain a mystery.

Many thanks again,
Benedict
