I've recently started seeing "nag messages" from Microsoft announcing that Windows 10 will be available soon. And according to the messages, it will be a free upgrade for me. I'm inclined to allow it to proceed, but I'm curious about SnagIt and Camtasia as far as the Windows 10 goes. I did find an earlier thread asking about it as well as seeing a thread from TechSmith stating the assorted things they have discovered in trials. But it seemed the thread was a bit long in the tooth, so I'm curious about the later releases of Windows 10 and how the products are faring with it.
Cheers... Rick :)
Be patient, don't upgrade yourself into a new operating system just because it's available.
Software programs haven't been tested in Windows 10 by many people yet. Bugs will be reported and need correcting.
Also, I hear that windows media player and some other features are going away.http://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-will-remove-some-features-and-apps-upgrading-windows-7-and-...
If you want to be a Ginny Pig.
Good luck with that, I'll pass.
Also, if you are a home version user, I've read that windows 10 will run updates automatically and you no control over them at all. The Pro and Professional versions won't do this.
But be careful, Companies are getting very bold with what they allow themselves to do with Your Computers Functionality. The slope keeps getting slipperier.
Agreed with the others Rick. Given the new way that MS made the Windows 8.1 upgrade available (distributed and downloaded from Windows store), I'd be VERY wary of this. Specifically these two issues: 1) If you did discover a serious compatibility issue there is no way to "rollback" the upgrade. 2) Because of the way it was installed, it didn't carry over significant data & settings as one would expect, so one must be prepared to configure settings that one didn't have to think about in the past.
On the other hand they may have discontinued that arrangement as so many people were unhappy with it. Wait, who am I kidding? This is Microsoft, put your crash helmet on and hold your breath. :)
Some may opt to wait for 11... ; )
