I need 24fps screen captures. I'm not interested in using any of the features of Camtasia Studio other than screen capture, since we'll be editing in a different system. I don't want to export the files from Camtasia because it only works at 30/60fps and will pull the frame rate up to 30 by repeating frames.
In the recorder window, I can specify the captured file's frame rate at 24fps, So what I'd like to do is open that captured file directly in something like DaVinci Resolve (though I expect we'll need to convert it first, which is fine). The problem is that I can't open the AVI in anything. On Mac, Windows or Linux machines - In Resolve, it doesn't show up in the media browser (which typically indicates that it's a bad file), on the Mac, Quicktime Player says it's unable to open it, and on Windows Media Player it shows up as having "encountered an error" with the file. VLC just fails silently.I'm using the free trial version right now - is it possible it's connected to that? Shouldn't I be able to open the captured file directly in any application that can work with the AVI? What format is the file captured to within the AVI container?
