Would it possible to create this effort using Snagit directly?

I would like to make some areas (more than one) highlight by turning other places dark.

Just Like the screenshot ,  could someone point to me how to do it?

With your capture in the editor use the "Selection tool" to mark the areas you want to show.

You can use hold the Shift key to select more than one area

Once you have made your selections  click the "Effects" option and than "Spotlight and Magnify" then apply a "Dim" effect to taste.

Thanks Dubie,  I can not find the "spotlight and Magnify" item in my panel, is this feature available on Mac Snagit 2018?

Surely the Mac version of SnagIt has the ability to select the desired shape, right? Assuming it does, I'm wondering if one could select that desired shape, copy it, then insert a shape that  has a black fill and covers the whole image. Then adjust the transparency of the shape so it looks like the gray area. Then paste the fully bright copied part on top?

Cheers... Rick :)
