Would rulers and guidelines be a welcome feature in Snagit?

Adding rulers and guidelines to the Snagit interface.
It's a series of ideas I have to make Snagit more Designer-friendly.
In a layout, having guidelines can help to place the objects and text more precisely.
This is one of a few ideas I wanted to present the Snagit team with.

What do you think? Do you think this feature could be interesting or not?

To my knowledge (which is certainly not complete) that would not be an official localized version. Can you share a URL where that is available?

I just typed "Snagit en Español" and the image poped up.
Googled listed several sites which claimed to have a Spanish version of your software...

Nick,
I would suggest to submit this good idea, IF, one day, there is a new feature requests roundup again.
Frankly, I would not know how many votes the idea should get in order to even be classified as 'Under Consideration', which probably is the step before 'Planned'.
For me the number of votes is a little bit of a grey area, maybe it depends on other aspects as well, rather than just votes.

I submitted a similar idea, some time back.
see:
https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/snagiteditor-please-add-cornered-arrows-and-rulers

The idea ended up with 55 votes. I was very happy, but  apparently it wasn't sufficient.

Then again, a feature like: "Snagit needs Microsoft OneNote 2013 integration" (https://goo.gl/pYUUaQ)
got 25 votes and was implemented at least when reading thru the thread.

Anyway, pls do consider to submit the idea once TechSmith is going to holdi their new feature request session again.

People did not see the Swiss-army-knife coming to much either.
Having all the tools to do a minimal decent design job all at hand would be a reason for a lot of people to buy. What is Snagit? And awesome capture software for video and still pictures? A few call-outs and some text...Quoting Charles Darwin " You either evolve or become extinct."
Yes, it would be handy not to have to open Corel Draw to teak the Snagit captures. Not asking for a full-blown Graphics pack here just some bloody guides and rulers which even the most basic of programmes have. It's not anything to do with wanting to cram features into the interface; it's asking for them to put something there which should have been there for always.

I'm sticking with Snagit 13 until the real Snagit unfolds its wings and takes flight. Ruler a guides please, or I will not upgrade to the next version. I don't see that many useful improvements to justity and upgrade.

Sorry for the harshness of my tone, but I'm getting a little fed up with this here post. It just seems so darn obvious that it would make the world of difference to someone like me and I am sure there are others.

Yes, Snagit needs to do so upgrading to join the modern age.
Some text formatting would not go amiss either.
But leave that up to your team to decide.

I always have Corel and Photoshop to go back to. It would be handy working with just one when it was a small project.

Have a good day.
Nick

After version 11 they destroyed Snagit. It is slowly coming back. The issue was less about the interface and more about broken and removed features. If you want to stay with a previous version that is yours to do but don't cut off your nose to spite your face; Wendy Hamilton seems to have turned the designers back toward listening to the customer base.

Rulers and Guides? You have received complete support from most of us so bemoaning the lack is not at all valid. It probably won't happen this week but they are looking at it

Snagit in an evolutionary dead end? Hardly although I would have believed it after what they did in version 12. But they are apparently digging out of that mess and returning us to the basics:: a screen capture tool with some great annotation features.

There seems to be a misapprehension of what Snagit actually is. It is a fast screen capture and annotation tool. It is not a design program. Snagit Editor gives you the basics and even has bezier curves, smart move and reasonable text features, If we need more such as bezier curves the answer is not for Techsmith to design a full blown module for that but rather take it to Designer or Illustrator and build your graphic there. TExT: If you want more that what is provided such as inner glow, outer glow, bevels, outlines etc., build that part of it in Photoshop where you can apply mask, gradients, filters and all the rest.

Your swiss army knife is a great example. It does everything but it does nothing well. It is more difficult to get a blade out after weeding though the toothpick and scissors and then is too bulky to be an effective knife.

Nick, you have no enemies here. You have had some good ideas and if any are unworkable, they can lead to other possibilities.

And again, I have my own list of stuff I want, most of which would deserve to be shot down so stay with it, everything changes

Thank you kind sir.
I sure don't want Nick to think he is under attack. He is not and I enjoy his ideas and comments.
