wrong dimensions for imported video

I was asked to edit an iPhone video as a test.  The iPhone video was 320x568.

The weekly 1280x720 video was just imported and, after adding to timeline, the editing dimensions are still 320x568.  This has not been noticed before when working with other videos.

In addition, to manually change the editing to match the recording I had to change both values, after disabling "Keep aspect ratio".  Rather than manually stretching and positioning the image CS8 was closed, reopened, and the video imported.  Now, all is well.

However, this is going to become a regular event.

Question 1.  Is there a way add the FIRST video to the timeline so the editing dimensions are changed to match the recorded dimensions?

Question 2. Is there a way to instruct CS8 to change the editing dimensions to the recorded dimensions of the only video in the clip bin and timeline?  The properties taken from inside the clip bin show the 1280x720 so I believe CS8 knows the dimensions.
