Hi Paul,
I believe the overall intent of the shape is to give rounded corners to whatever size you draw.

If you were to make the shape you show a bit taller, it would look like a rectangle with rounded corners.

Since your shape is so narrow, you are in effect connecting the upper and lower rounded corners to each other creating an oval shape.

Does this make sense?
I guess the bottom line here is, there is a minimum size to get the rounded rectangle effect and you have not reached it because you don't have enough vertical "lift"

Hi Paul

I presume because if you made the shape much larger, it would then resemble what you see or seem to be expecting.

I think this is a bit of an issue because we are unable to configure the actual radius of the corners. And when that happens, the smaller the shape is, the more exaggerated the corners are.

Cheers... Rick :)

At the risk of being labelled a pedant, the shape in the shape selection box is even smaller than the shape I drew.  If the shape in the selector is not what SnagIt is going to draw, don't misrepresent it in the selector.

The box I need to draw needs to outline the text on the screen shot, so making it taller is not an option.

The radius needs to be calculated as a percentage of the image size, not some arbitrary fixed value that doesn't give the shape shown in the selector, wouldn't you say?

Ricks right, configuring the corner size is the key. SnagIt for MAC lets you do it.I saw it in another thread in the past. Photoshop let's you do it, but Photoshop lets you do just about anything.

I was curious. I superimposed the actual shape icon. Over a Red rectangular shape that was 1 pixel wide.
I  kept resizing them both. While maintaining the proper aspect ratio.  Until the radius of each shape seemed to match each other closely.

Then I cropped it and measured it in Photoshop.

89 x 219 pixels. After going through all that. I figured  I might as well share the results.
Adding adjustable radius corners was a feature request at one time "I think"
