Well, you're not alone. nigelday reports the same issue with SnagIt 2018 just 2 days ago....................
https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/orange-vertical-lines-now-appearing-after-camtasia-u...

I'd recommend contacting support, but unfortunately. Version 4.1.10 is no longer officially supported.

I wonder if this is a Catalina Update issue? That's one buggy release. Hopefully your not a victim of that update?

I'd keep an eye on nigelday's post and see if an answer comes.

Regards,Joe

Hi,

This appears to be a new issue with Snagit in Catalina. Unfortunately version 4 is no longer supported, but the bug does not affect our latest version, Snagit 2020. Information on upgrading can be found here https://www.techsmith.com/snagit-upgrade.html.

I bought Snagit and Camtasia in 2017 for $200 and have to pay $100 more to use it in 2020. Why is that not a surprise.

Hi. I was having the same issue, so I upgraded to SnagIt 2020. However, the issue still persists.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Consider requesting a refund on the upgrade.

This may or may not be resolved when Apple issues an update for Catalina.Which for all intensive purposes, its a bug laden release.

Hi Ernest,

This is the first report we've heard of this issue affecting 2020. In my testing I was able to reproduce this in 2018, but not 2019 or 2020. Could you tell us a little bit about the setup you have?

1. How many monitors do you have?
2. Are they all retina, or a mix of retina/non-retina?
3. Are you capturing a region or a full screen?
4. Do you have any window snapping apps installed?

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue, are we saying that this will no be fixed on 4.1? Why wouldn't snagit continue to service something I paid for?

Hi,

Each version of snagit has a supported lifetime after which we will no longer provide updates, which is generally about 4 versions of macOS. Snagit 4 was introduced when 10.10 was around and was supported all the way through 10.13 (and to some extent 10.14), as seen on our support page. If you upgrade your macOS to a version that's not supported by the Snagit version you have, we can't guarantee that it will continue to work. The good news is that you can upgrade Snagit for half the cost of a new license, and if you add a maintenance plan, that gets you free major upgrades as long as your plan is active.

These shadowed lines are an absolute nightmare....my tutorials look horrible and trying to navigate a while recording is severely distracting. Needing to upgrade as a 'fix' should not be the solution and apparently it's not. I'm on version 2018.2.8 (90468)

I'm having this same issue in the SnagIt 2020 trial version (also in my SnagIt2019 paid version). Not making much of a case to pay for the upgrade if it's still buggy. I'm running Catalina 10.15.2

I'm having the same problem in Snagit 2018, Installed the 2020 trial and works perfectly, the trial ends tomorrow and I need to capture videos, Is there a fix coming soon for 2018? This is the only problem I'm having with any app on Catalina so far.
