Zip file for older stamps contain .pdf files instead of .png files so they don't show up in the SnagIt Editor.

Where did you obtain these PDF files? I know oftentimes folks will have a PDF that contains all the files in an effort to easily show them. But I've only seen this when perhaps considering purchasing other files. And the PDF usually has a watermark on all the pages and files.

Does your PDF have any watermarks?

Cheers... Rick :)

I got them from a zip file link from this TechSmith post some time ago https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/220456508-Snagit-Windows-Installing-old-stamps.  Some of the folders have .png images, but some have .pdf's.

Interesting. I'm guessing that perhaps the older versions of SnagIt may have recognized PDF as a Stamp file type. Hopefully one of the TechSmith peeps will see this thread and pop in to advise.

Cheers... Rick :)

Hello!

I was able to get it to work. Snagit still recognizes pdf files as stamps. In fact we prefer it, because we can have vector stamps for way better scaling than png stamps.

That said, just wanted to check one thing. I've made the mistake before of putting them in:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\Snagit\Snagit Stamps\

But they need to go in:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\Snagit Stamps\

Just wanted to double check that that's where you put them and it looks like this:

And then when I restart Snagit I see them under My Stamps:

If that's not what you're seeing, there might be something deeper that we'd need to figure out and it'd probably be best to open a support ticket to get to the bottom of it:
https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hope that helps!
Chris

Thanks for your quick response and detailed instructions.  I have tried this again and verified that my stamps are in the right place.

I can see the folders in the SnagIt Editor, but the folders that contain .pdf files don't show any stamps in the editor.  The folders that have .png files show the stamps.

I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

And one other item to note.  The last 2 folders that display in the editor, Accents and Cursors, are different folders than the first listed Accents folder.  Those 2 folders are in C:\Program Files (x86)\TechSmith\Snagit 10\Stamps.  They both contain .png files.  All of the other folders are the ones that were in the downloaded .zip file and they are in C:\Users\lcarlson\Documents\Snagit Stamps.

I believe pdf format came along well after Snagit 10 so they won't work.

Snagit 10 only used png format.

You can get many of the stamps (such as Hand Drawn) in png here that should work for you.

This worked.  Thanks so much . . . though I really wanted the Hand Drawn stamps you specifically mentioned.  I did not find them at this url.
