Hello there,
if you want to use your mouse wheel to zoom in. You just hold down the "Ctrl" key first. Then the wheel will zoom in and out for you.

Scroll down on this page. https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001418231-Snagit-Editor-Preferences-and-Hotkeys
I'm sure this is all available in the help files. But I find the menus of the help files to be hard to work with.

Thank you for your thoughts. However, I didn't see anything about the mouse wheel on the page. I understand the shortcut keys exist. When I'm working along with my mouse (been using one for 35 yrs), it is very easy to scroll-zoom rather than stop what I'm doing and go to a key-chord to zoom (recognize this is a personal preference). Similarly, I have photoshop setup to zoom with the wheel, it just speeds things along. The CAD product I use, zooms with the middle mouse wheel. The ability to work consistently across apps is quite handy and second nature when these options are available.
Thanks again,
Bill

The CTRL-Mouse Wheel to zoom is a Windows default that works in Most programs but not all. It's one of those things you just have to try.

The one function missing is to reset the zoom back to normal which requires using CTRL+0

Also most people don't know or don't utilize is that the wheel is also a button but has varying functions for each program.

For instance in a browser wheel clicking on a link,  opens that link in a new tabor wheel clicking on the browser page brings a vertical auto scroll.

Just move the mouse up or down after clicking to scroll the page. This is great to read a long page hands free

In Snagit clicking the wheel does a different function.  On a zoomed image/capture it brings up the grab hand.

Really not that useful for vertical movement. Scrolling the wheel is easier but for horizontal movement it comes in handy.

The hot keys are listed at the bottom of the page. There's nothing to enable. Just hold the Ctrl key and scroll.I use Photoshop as well. No, it's not nearly as nice as PS. But when the image fills the canvas, it scrolls into the general area where you place the cursor. It's not precise like PS.

so i was glad to find this info about control/scroll for zoom.  i'm new to snagit18, but not new to snagit.  i do miss the immediate access to the zoom slider- now i have to always do 2 steps - dropdown menu, then slide...snagit 2108 just increased my keystrokes. :(
