Hi kevinscorpion;

This tends to happen if there are some non-standard settings (especially with audio). The likeliest fix at this time would be to use a tool such as Handbrake (which is free) to first transcode the video before bringing it into Camtasia (this can be a quick process, pending your computer specs and the media you're bringing in). We have a download link and a tutorial on how to use Handbrake here (check in the "Unsupported Formats" section).

I spoke with techsmith support regarding the same issue and got the advice Robert gave above.  Before doing anything use handbrake to transcode the video.  Then import it into camtasia.

In order to squeeze its signal through the Interwebtubes, Zoom compresses audio tremendously -- with the concomitant side effect of reducing audio quality.  I have struggled with such recordings for a few years now, and have had limited success by opening the audio in Audacity, ensuring that the sampling rate is 44.1 (not 48) and that the bit rate is reasonable (256kbps is a bit better than 8kbps).  At that point -- armed with a "restored" WAV file -- I try various corrective filters depending on what is wrong with the audio.  The results vary, and of course nothing will make a plastic kazoo recorded over Zoom sound close to the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields recorded in a studio.
