zoom was better in previous versions

Using Snagit 11.4.3. I really miss the ability in previous versions to zoom by clicking on a specific region. The zoom slider at the bottom is FAR less useful, because I cannot specify the region to be the target of zoom. This requires scrolling the zoomed image to the desired location, which is tedious, not least of all because of all the redrawing glitches. Hope you can implement a more effective zoom tool.

Hello David,
I understand your frustration and while there is no zoom tool any more you can zoom in or out by holding down the ctrl key and scrolling the mouse wheel forward or backward. This will zoom to the location of your cursor on the canvas. I find this quicker than using the tool or the zoom bar because you don't have to switch tools to do it! Let me know how that works for you or if you have any other questions.

You got me very excited for a moment, but when I tried it, I find that the zoom-in halts when the image reaches the boundaries of the editor.  This is not helpful when you need to work on a pixel-by-pixel basis.  Also, once I have zoomed to the full extent, the scroll wheel stops functioning as zoom and so is useless for zooming out.   I don't understand this implementation of zoom.  Thanks.

Odd, that's not how it should be working. Here's a couple things I can think of:
  • Make sure you're holding the ctrl key for the entire scroll
  • What size is the image? When you zoom all the way in does the zoom bar on the bottom say 2000%?
It should zoom all the way down to the pixel level just fine (I do this frequently and haven't seen an issue before), and you should be able to zoom back out. If that's not the case please contact our support team (https://support.techsmith.com) and they should be able to help you out!
Let me know what you find.
