Zooming with a Blur

Hi, all. I'm using Camtasia 2018, though I've had this dilemma in previous versions. On a screencast, I need to blur a part of the screen (the user information). I'm zooming in, but the blur asset moves when I do this, so during the zoom, the viewer is able to see the user information that was blurred. How do I get this to zoom and leave the blur shape right where it's supposed to be? Many thanks...

place the blur over the sensitive area, BEFORE you apply the zoom effect

if you zoom using the left panel animations tool, the correct movement will be applied to both the base clip and the blur callout; the blur callout should stay over the target

@kayakman thanks for the prompt reply.  Like @Shel I have the same issue and have done for many years.

I was not able to make it work like you suggested in Camtasia 9?  I don't seem to have any luck with this.  The blur isn't locked to the image section and ends up floating.
Do you know of a video for examples on how to use blur in this way?
I tend not to zoom in because of this which make my end production look very ordinary.
I'm sure it used to work much easier in an older version.
Ideally I want it to track the image under the blur regardless of the zoom.
Has smart focus gone with Camtasia 9 and >?

Thanks.

Try grouping the assets and adding the zoom to the group

Hey damianrx, in addition to Kayakman's video for your specific solution, I have a video that shows how to do some of the complex tracking stuff with the blur effect in Camtasia 9 - https://youtu.be/QhMdXPtSGZk .

video made at 1920x1040; I've never tried viewing any of my tutorials off a phone; I don't have a smart phone; my cell is 15 years old, and dumber than dirt

hope you get to watch it

Wow, talk about great timing. I just needed to cover an email address with a replacement annotation on a page that scrolls up from the bottom. I literally had to use the "How To Blur A Moving Object " technique on a frame-by-frame basis to get the annotation to track the somewhat inconsistent scrolling, but it worked like a charm. Great tip!
